Gospel to Matthew 20, 1-16a

Nước Trời giống như chuyện gia chủ kia, vừa tảng sáng đã ra mướn thợ vào làm việc trong vườn nho của mình.

Mit dem Himmelreich ist es wie mit einem Gutsbesitzer, der früh am Morgen sein Haus verließ, um Arbeiter für seinen Weinberg anzuwerben.

For the kingdom of heaven is like the master of a house, who went out early in the morning to get workers into his vine-garden.

Sau khi đã thoả thuận với thợ là mỗi ngày một quan tiền, ông sai họ vào vườn nho làm việc.

Er einigte sich mit den Arbeitern auf einen Denar für den Tag und schickte sie in seinen Weinberg.

And when he had made an agreement with the workmen for a penny a day, he sent them into his vine-garden.

Khoảng giờ thứ ba, ông lại trở ra, thấy có những người khác ở không, đang đứng ngoài chợ.

Um die dritte Stunde ging er wieder auf den Markt und sah andere dastehen, die keine Arbeit hatten.

And he went out about the third hour, and saw others in the market-place doing nothing;

Ông cũng bảo họ: "Cả các anh nữa, hãy đi vào vườn nho, tôi sẽ trả cho các anh hợp lẽ công bằng.

Er sagte zu ihnen: Geht auch ihr in meinen Weinberg! Ich werde euch geben, was recht ist.

And he said to them, Go into the vine-garden with the others, and whatever is right I will give you. And they went to work.

Họ liền đi. Khoảng giờ thứ sáu, rồi giờ thứ chín, ông lại trở ra và cũng làm y như vậy.

Und sie gingen. Um die sechste und um die neunte Stunde ging der Gutsherr wieder auf den Markt und machte es ebenso.

Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did the same.

Khoảng giờ mười một, ông trở ra và thấy còn có những người khác đứng đó, ông nói với họ: "Sao các anh đứng đây suốt ngày không làm gì hết?

Als er um die elfte Stunde noch einmal hinging, traf er wieder einige, die dort herumstanden. Er sagte zu ihnen: Was steht ihr hier den ganzen Tag untätig herum?

And about the eleventh hour he went out and saw others doing nothing; and he says to them, Why are you here all the day doing nothing?

Họ đáp: "Vì không ai mướn chúng tôi." Ông bảo họ: "Cả các anh nữa, hãy đi vào vườn nho!

Sie antworteten: Niemand hat uns angeworben. Da sagte er zu ihnen: Geht auch ihr in meinen Weinberg!

They say to him, Because no man has given us work. He says to them, Go in with the rest, into the vine-garden.

Chiều đến, ông chủ vườn nho bảo người quản lý: "Anh gọi thợ lại mà trả công cho họ, bắt đầu từ những người vào làm sau chót tới những người vào làm trước nhất.

Als es nun Abend geworden war, sagte der Besitzer des Weinbergs zu seinem Verwalter: Ruf die Arbeiter, und zahl ihnen den Lohn aus, angefangen bei den letzten, bis hin zu den ersten.

And when evening came, the lord of the vine-garden said to his manager, Let the workers come, and give them their payment, from the last to the first.

Vậy những người mới vào làm lúc giờ mười một tiến lại, và lãnh được mỗi người một quan tiền.

Da kamen die Männer, die er um die elfte Stunde angeworben hatte, und jeder erhielt einen Denar.

And when those men came who had gone to work at the eleventh hour, they were given every man a penny.

Khi đến lượt những người vào làm trước nhất, họ tưởng sẽ được lãnh nhiều hơn, thế nhưng cũng chỉ lãnh được mỗi người một quan tiền.

Als dann die ersten an der Reihe waren, glaubten sie, mehr zu bekommen. Aber auch sie erhielten nur einen Denar.

Then those who came first had the idea that they would get more; and they, like the rest, were given a penny.

Họ vừa lãnh vừa cằn nhằn gia chủ:

Da begannen sie, über den Gutsherrn zu murren,

And when they got it, they made a protest against the master of the house,

Mấy người sau chót này chỉ làm có một giờ, thế mà ông lại coi họ ngang hàng với chúng tôi là những người đã phải làm việc nặng nhọc cả ngày, lại còn bị nắng nôi thiêu đốt.

und sagten: Diese letzten haben nur eine Stunde gearbeitet, und du hast sie uns gleichgestellt; wir aber haben den ganzen Tag über die Last der Arbeit und die Hitze ertragen.

Saying, These last have done only one hour's work, and you have made them equal to us, who have undergone the hard work of the day and the burning heat.

Ông chủ trả lời cho một người trong bọn họ: "Này bạn, tôi đâu có xử bất công với bạn. Bạn đã chẳng thoả thuận với tôi là một quan tiền sao?

Da erwiderte er einem von ihnen: Mein Freund, dir geschieht kein Unrecht. Hast du nicht einen Denar mit mir vereinbart?

But he in answer said to one of them, Friend, I do you no wrong: did you not make an agreement with me for a penny?

Cầm lấy phần của bạn mà đi đi. Còn tôi, tôi muốn cho người vào làm sau chót này cũng được bằng bạn đó.

Nimm dein Geld und geh! Ich will dem letzten ebensoviel geben wie dir.

Take what is yours, and go away; it is my pleasure to give to this last, even as to you.

Chẳng lẽ tôi lại không có quyền tuỳ ý định đoạt về những gì là của tôi sao? Hay vì thấy tôi tốt bụng, mà bạn đâm ra ghen tức? "

Darf ich mit dem, was mir gehört, nicht tun, was ich will? Oder bist du neidisch, weil ich zu anderen gütig bin?

Have I not the right to do as seems good to me in my house? or is your eye evil, because I am good?

Thế là những kẻ đứng chót sẽ được lên hàng đầu, còn những kẻ đứng đầu sẽ phải xuống hàng chót.

So werden die Letzten die Ersten sein.

So the last will be first, and the first last.
